Irish Rovers make it to Cup finals E-mail
Written by PATRICK ROXAS

THE Irish Rover Greens made the most on every scoring opportunity that came their way and pounced Bluewater to submission with a score of 5-1 to nail the first Cup finals berth recently at the Bluewater school compound in Bophut.

Tomey began the Greens’ scoring binge squeezing a shot past Bluewater goal keeper Raf just 10 minutes in the first half.

Devin scored another point for his team a few minutes later to make it 2-0.

Bluewater increased their game intensity and made a number of attempts at the Rovers’ goal but were unlucky and missed their target aside from big man John making some good saves himself.

The Rovers continued to try to pile up the points but the hardworking goal keeper Raf prevented the team from being buried with goals.

Bluewater supporters watching at the sidelines saw a glimpse of hope for their cause when Casper managed to get his shot past the outstretched arm of John to narrow the score 2-1 before the half time ended.

A few minutes into the second half, however, Jay flew a hard shot that was not caught by Raf, allowing the Irish Rovers to increase their lead to two points again.

Into the 35th minute, Jay scored another goal to make it, 4 -1.

Bluewater made last-ditch efforts to narrow the gap, but the long arm and huge frame of big John made it difficult for them to score a goal.

And then late Rover substitute Champ scored their fifth goal coming from a corner kick that really dashed the hopes of Bluewater.

Rover is now waiting for the winner of the other semifinal match between Island Rentals and Zane Bar to play in the Cup finals.
