TECHWORX Pool League (formerly Samui Pool League) heavyweights immediately signified their presence at the third edition of the Makro Cup Knockout Competition disposing off opponents in easy fashion at the opening round played recently in various venues on the island. Makro Cup defending champion and back-to-back winner Chillin Bar crushed The Hut, 11-4, at the latter’s own turf to lead the first-round winners.

Division 1 defending champion Bar Asia pounced on hapless The Office, 11-2, a Division 3 team in their own encounter in Bangrak. International, another Division 1 team, eliminated last season’s Makro Cup runnerup Moby Dicks, 11-8, to advance to the next round.

Recently crowned Bangrak Pool League champion Bamboo Bar also scored a win at the expense of Soi Reggae-based PFC, 11-9.
In another encounter, Choengmon-based Lazy Toad knocked out Lemon Tart, 11-9.

Dream Girls and Premier Sports Bar also advanced into the next round, but not without a scare from Jordan’s and Barbs, respectively.

Dream Girls had to win the last rack after an uphill battle.

Premier Sports Bar, on the other hand, relied on Ian to win the deciding game against Barb’s. Danny, after the score, went 10-10 in the race to 11th match.

Other teams got a bye.
