Vacation for the mind and soul Print E-mail

Whether you are a tourist or resident, you can spend your Samui holiday taking care of your mind and soul at the same time.

More than meditations, the Osho Paramdham Meditation Center on Bantai Beach offers spiritual journeys of a different kind.  After the

experience, “you will feel lighter, more peaceful and fulfilled,” according to Ma Puja Sutra and Ma Prem Sarani, the two women who run the center.

“It’s more like a vacation from your mind!”

Four languages are spoken at the Center -- English, Italian, German and Thai. This makes all instructions easy to understand.

Both Sutra and Sarani have extensive experience, gained from the most specialized centers around the world, on various forms of meditation, spiritual exercises, awareness practices, counseling, aura and chakra reading, divination, Reiki, etc.

Yet the fees at the center, they add, are so modest they are more like “suggested donations”.  What’s more, part of the income the center makes is shared with the poor in northern Thailand.

On request, the two can even share with you their healthy and sumptuous Italian cooking.

Sutra and Sarani are two exceedingly serene and sensitive women who share their enthusiasm for the spiritual search.  Anyone who takes the spiritual journey comes out a different person, they said, due in part to the indefinable ambiance at the center and the energy he or she gets from the experience.

Before coming to Samui, Sutra spent her time on spiritual pursuits in Oregon in the USA, India, Holland and Italy.  She took relaxation, visualisation and introspective program studies at the Silva Mind Center and at the Psycho-Dynamic Center in Milan, Italy, where she was born. She was a student of Baba Bedi, a teacher of healing arts, body language, past life, etc. in Milan.

Author “Psycho Evolution,” a self-healing method, she founded the Osho Axolotl Meditation Center in Cocquio (Varese), Italy.

Sarani, on the other hand, was born in Germany. Having lived in Osho centers for many years, she has become an expert in community life.  In 1991 Sarani moved to Koh Samui where she first worked as a PR and front office manager in a beach resort.   She later became spa manager for 5-Star hotels on the island and continues to work as a spa consultant.  Co-creator of the Zen garden in the center, she is teacher of "5 Tibetans" and a Reiki master.

Osho Paramdham Meditation Center is located at 12/1 Moo 5 in Maenam. Its reception time is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, although it will be closed Sept. 15 to Dec. 15.
